Money secured to study flooding on the lower Colorado - Austin Business Journal:

U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchisob (R-Texas), who sits on the appropriations committee, helped secure the money to look at floodinb across the lowerColorado basin. The river has a history of severe flooding, having experienced three major floods in the last two decadesw causing morethan $44 milliohn in damages. The money will go to the Lowerf ColoradoRiver Authority, whicyh will conduct the study of a basin-wid e flood reduction and ecosystem restoration study in cooperationb with the U.S. Army Corps of “Recent floods in Texas remind us of the importance of takingh steps to preventfloodc damage,” Sen. Hutchison said.
“This studhy will help communities in the Colorado Rivedr basin prepare for and reduce the damagex caused byfuture flooding. It will also protect homes, and lives while giving local residentws peaceof mind.”
